“Let’s support planet at every finger stroke”

-Ruchi Vipasa

We are living in a digital world and using laptops, tablets, phones all the time. According to Statista, as of January 2021, there were 4.66 billion active internet users worldwide - 59.5 per cent of the global population. Of this total, 92.6 per cent (4.32 billion) accessed the internet via mobile devices.

USE A GREEN SEARCH ENGINE

Just to put some context, the carbon footprint of our gadgets, the internet and the systems supporting them account for about 3.7% of global greenhouse emissions, according to some estimates. It is similar to the amount produced by the airline industry globally.

Tech company Ecoasia, decided to fight climate change and created a search engine that plants trees every time we use the browser. They are transparent about all their endeavours, publish timely reports on where the money was spent.

INVEST IN GREEN ENERGY

We all do some sort of financial planning - we put money aside in a savings account, invest in stocks, buy properties etc. Here in this section, we want to talk about financial planning. Usually, there is a brokerage that helps us pick the type of companies that will bring us to benefit in the long run. Unfortunately, the majority of banks invest heavily in fossil fuels and unsustainable corporations. Ask your broker about sustainable companies and invest there.
